This is an exciting opportunity to join Yorkshire Water, a leader in water and wastewater services across the region, where your role will be integral to ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable operations across key assets like pumping stations, treatment works, and overflow systems.

The Role
Core Responsibilities
As a Technical Optimiser, you’ll play a strategic role in optimising wastewater assets—including treatment works, pumping stations, CSOs (Combined Sewer Overflows), and detention tanks—to deliver: 🔸 Performance excellence (pollution prevention, reliability, customer satisfaction) 🔸 Optimal energy use and sustainability 🔸 Regulatory compliance (TWC, bathing water quality, energy consumption) 🔸 Proactive risk mitigation and asset optimisation
Your duties include:
- Operational leadership: Plan, organise, and manage complex reactive and proactive workloads across sites in the North & East Yorkshire regions
- Technical support & coaching: Guide pumping operators and maintenance teams through analytics, training, and process optimisation
- Risk & performance management: Use RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to investigate asset failure, performance gaps, and mitigations
- Critical incident resolution: Escalate and resolve high-priority, complex, and emergency issues—leveraging external resources where needed
- Data-driven efficiency: Monitor SCADA/RTS systems to identify trends, adjust setpoints, and improve process performance
- Customer-first focus: Proactively manage customer complaints and ensure resolutions align with Yorkshire Water’s Customer Promise
- Capital project involvement: Support design, commissioning, and asset upgrades (both internally and externally)
- Behavioral culture: Foster a Health, Safety, and Wellbeing-first mindset, ensuring all activities comply with company policies
Skills & Qualifications
