Technical Pension Specialist
Technical Pension Professional – DB Schemes Specialisation
This critical role is perfect for a pension professional with strong expertise in Defined Benefit (DB) schemes—if that’s you, we’d love to hear from you!
About the Role
The primary focus of this position is to act as the technical point of contact for internal business teams, process owners, and external stakeholders, resolving complex technical matters and cases effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Communication
- Resolve technical queries and cases with external stakeholders
- Deliver work on time while ensuring compliance with GDPR, ICO guidelines, and Right of Access principles
- Handle complex or high-value cases, including:
- Pensions Ombudsman & Early Resolution Service cases
- Subject Access Requests

Reporting & Process Improvement
- Produce monthly client statistics and reporting data
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in:
- Processes
- Scheme literature & systems wording
Risk Mitigation & Regulatory Support
- Work with teams to anticipate and mitigate technical risks or changes
- Adhere to quality management standards, regulatory frameworks, and company policies
Knowledge Sharing & Development
- Mentor and coach less experienced colleagues
- Contribute constructive input in meetings and ensure agreed actions are met
Collaboration & Team Engagement
- Support team objectives and promote clarity in discussions
- Build relationships with stakeholders, acting as a trusted technical resource

Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Strong background in Defined Benefit (DB) pensions
- Proven experience handling:
- Regulatory complaints & disputes
- Subject to clear, accurate case reporting
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Soft Skills
- Ability to explain complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences
- Skilled at relationship-building and problem-solving
