Technical Plant Engineer (Mechanical) – Energy Recovery
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time (~37.5 hours/week)
Location: Preferable South East (with national travel and Suffolk EFW site-based)
Salary: £49,616
Interviews Start: 8 July onwards

About the Role
SUEZ is seeking a Technical Plant Engineer (Mechanical) - Energy Recovery, ensuring their plants operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently to benefit the environment, local communities, and their business.
This role is ideal for engineers who can merge technical expertise, sustainability initiatives, and problem-solving. You’ll work closely with the Plant Manager, Operations Manager, and technical teams to support daily operations and long-term improvements.
Core responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and mechanical standards while providing technical guidance.
- Deliver and support mechanical engineering projects across operations, maintenance, outages, and improvements.
- Drive asset optimisation and reliability strategies, backing performance and risk-based decision-making.
- Conduct process analysis to identify improvements in efficiency, safety, and risk management.
- Manage contractors, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance to minimise plant downtime.

Requirements
Bulked: Candidates must demonstrate:
- Strong mechanical engineering experience (experience with pressure/steam systems beneficial).
- Proven problem-solving skills in energy, process, power, or heavy industrial engineering.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation: LOLER, PSSR, environmental regulations, and permit-to-work systems.
- Qualification or experience: In Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent hands-on engineering practice).
- Experience delivering engineering and improvement projects, preferably with data analysis and reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel nationally and support multiple sites as required.
