Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Platform Manager to join the software engineering function in our thriving vehicle telematics business.

This role offers a unique blend of technical and people leadership in a fast-growing sector, with outstanding career development opportunities.

Specifically you will be responsible for managing a talented team of software developers focused on our world-leading telematics platform, and for the planning, coordination, and implementation of new and existing features.

Technical analysis, development, projects, and support are the key to everything we do to deliver success and innovation at Radius. Our IT teams work using both agile and waterfall project methodologies and are constantly reviewing, adopting, and using new technologies as well as assessing new approaches to solving the varied, complex, and dynamic problems we face in our business.

You will be expected to develop an excellent understanding of the complex architecture and functionality of our IT landscape to assess change impact, direct development activity, and advise on business and technical initiatives.

The role reports directly to our Head of Engineering and is located at our Telematics head office at Arden Square, Crewe.

What you'll be doing...

  • Working with business stakeholders to proactively identify new business opportunities and introduce new technologies.
  • Working with the Head of Engineering, Director of Product, and development leads to analyze projects and ad-hoc change requests prior to scheduling.
  • Managing the scheduling and delivery of development tasks, ensuring product owners, developers, and IT management are aware of priorities and issues.
  • Assisting with task estimation and tracking project progress across NodeJS, Typescript, and C# based application pipelines, providing regular updates to the Head of Engineering.
  • Managing a growing team of developers, providing day-to-day leadership and technical support both in person and remotely, depending on the circumstances.
  • Proactively ensuring the health of the platform, identifying, and addressing technical debt.
  • Monitoring and managing key performance indicators, ensuring team delivery excellence, and addressing any issues effectively.
  • Line management, including setting up team/individual objectives, regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and developing PDPs for career progression of your direct reports.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for application-level issues, with some out-of-hours support required when necessary.
  • Working with architects to define, improve, and evolve the architecture of the platform.
  • Supporting the Head of Engineering in assessing, defining, and rolling out development practices/processes aligned with industry best practice, ensuring their adherence enables the delivery of efficient change.
  • Managing a South African-based support and quality assurance team to maintain and prioritize work between direct and reseller customers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
