Technical Presales Consultant, Defence & National Security

Location: Basingstoke, Bracknell primarily and other sites as needed; a flexible attitude to travel and working locations will be required.

Your role will involve:

We are looking for a Presales Consultant for our Defence & National Security business to join a high-performing team of customer-focused Solution Architects. You will work alongside our Business Development professionals, supporting through-life engagements with our customers by combining advisory-led strategic partnering, digital transformation, and delivery excellence to position Fujitsu as a trusted, embedded partner to Defence customers.

You will embed yourself with key Defence & National Security customers, acting as a trusted advisor on strategy, digital backbone roadmaps, and transformation programmes. You will work with colleagues to further develop our Go-to-Market Offerings and will assist in technology development, campaign planning, and DNS’s medium-term growth strategy. You will operate as one point of the Strike Team triangle, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, and a Business Development Executive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Business Development team by providing technical support and knowledge of our services and offering portfolio
  • Leading technical engagement sessions and workshops, understanding user ways of working and views
  • Delivering presentations and demonstrations to prospective and current clients
  • Producing customer-facing and governance collateral
  • Supporting the development of new capability and digital outcomes based on customer demand signals
  • Providing technical representation and Opportunity Qualification and Bid No Bid Governance Boards
  • Leading engagement with partners and potential partners of all scales, from holding senior relationships with other Defence Primes and Technology Leaders, to Small to Medium Enterprises and Disruptors, with the aim of ensuring our solutions and services comprise the most compelling technology and service mix
  • Attending industry, partner, and customer events representing Fujitsu at social, sponsorship, and networking events which are occasionally held in the evenings and weekends
  • Responding to Expressions of Interest, Requests for Information and, on occasion, where business imperatives demand, supporting Pre-qualification Questionnaires and Invitations to Tender

Your transferable skills and experience:

  • Is self-confident with the ability to listen, influence, and negotiate
  • Able to solve complex problems and customer challenges
  • Has a deep understanding of our customers’ culture, approach, and security requirements
  • A natural communicator, able to tailor language appropriate to the audience
  • Have fantastic organisational and presentational qualities
  • Understanding of programme and project delivery processes and approaches
  • Strong technical capabilities across a broad spectrum of information, data, and technology services
  • Possesses excellent proposal writing skills with high attention to detail
  • Must have the ability and drive to keep up to date with the latest technologies and techniques

  • Works flexibly across Business, Customer, and Home locations with the aim of supporting. You will need to be mobile and highly flexible in terms of your working locations and working on customer sites or attending events. Overnight travel will be required on a regular basis and a driving license will be essential.
