Company description

GBR Technology Limited is a supplier of specialist high-end industrial lubricants and sports amenity products. We supply to a wide range of sectors within UK manufacturing, have been trading for over 40 years and are currently enjoying a period of good growth. We distribute for some large multi-nationals and also have a range of own brand products for certain sectors. Supplying both end-users and resellers, we have an excellent reputation for quality and service and are focussed on growing our business in the UK and overseas. Title: Technical Product Chemist

Position summary

As a result of our expanding business, we are creating a new position to strengthen our new product development and product data generation activities. The role is diverse and would suit an ambitious recent graduate looking to develop a broad range of skills, incorporating laboratory work alongside technical customer support. The position is full time, permanent and there may also be some travel from time to time.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and test new amenity product formulations working in the laboratory
  • Lead amenity product field trials, planning, organising and carrying out the studies, then compiling and summarising the data and technical conclusions
  • Plan, execute and track development projects and tasks assigned to you
  • Manage the on-site laboratory, including organising for equipment maintenance and maintaining the chemical inventory
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support to customers and internally when needed
  • Generating technical literature to aid marketing and report writing
  • Support the sales team on customer visits from time to time

Working hours and location

This role is both office and lab based so requires you to be a commutable distance from our office in Silchester, Berkshire (RG7). Working hours are 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biology/other physical or life science. (Masters is preferable). Candidates with equivalent laboratory experience will be considered.

Experience

Essential

  • Prior laboratory experience in either an industrial or academic setting

Desirable

  • Prior work experience within lubricants or the chemicals sector
  • Developing formulated products
  • Technical customer support

Behaviours and attributes

  • Good analytical and organisational skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Independent self starter, with a high degree of diligence and motivation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, is required

Package

  • £28k-38k pa depending on experience
  • 25 days paid holiday (plus public holidays)
  • Company pension scheme
