Technical Product Lead - Connected Devices
ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are developing a connected version of an established hair‑care product, and this role will lead the definition and delivery of the full connected experience across device, firmware, and mobile app.
As the technical product lead (TPL), you will set the technical direction, define the system architecture, and ensure that the connected features deliver meaningful value to consumers.
You will work closely with embedded engineers, mobile developers, UX designers, and product stakeholders to translate user needs into a coherent, high‑quality connected experience.
Operating in a fast‑moving, high‑uncertainty environment, you will guide the team through iterative development, resolve technical trade‑offs, and maintain alignment across disciplines. This role combines hands‑on technical leadership with product‑level decision‑making to bring an innovative connected product from concept to launch.
This position is a 12-month fixed term contract.
LOCATION
This role will be based in our R&D Facility in Cambridge.
JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the end-to-end connected product experience across device, firmware, mobile app, and user journey Define the feature set and interaction model enabled by Bluetooth connectivity Lead system architecture decisions (device vs. app responsibilities, data flow, constraints) Translate user needs into clear, actionable technical requirements Drive usability, reliability, and real‑world performance across the connected ecosystem Guide cross‑functional delivery from concept through launch Coach and mentor engineering team members on ways of working, communication, and agile practices Champion consumer‑centric design, ensuring technical decisions support the intended user experience Break down technical complexity into iterative builds that validate assumptions and reduce risk

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
