About the Role
As a Technical Product Manager, you will lead the strategy, execution, and operational excellence of a critical transaction infrastructure platform powering global commerce. You will act as the single-threaded product leader responsible for the complete payment lifecycle, from connectivity and orchestration to settlement, risk, and security. Working at the intersection of engineering, product strategy, and business impact, you will define scalable solutions for complex distributed systems. This role requires a strong technical mindset, ownership mentality, and the ability to guide autonomous engineering teams toward building reliable, enterprise-grade platforms. You will influence the future of financial infrastructure by enabling seamless, secure, and intelligent payment experiences worldwide.
Accountabilities
- Own the end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and execution for the core transaction platform, ensuring alignment between business objectives, technical capabilities, and customer needs.
- Act as the accountable product leader for multiple interconnected domains, including payment connectivity, orchestration, transaction processing, money operations, and risk infrastructure.
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams and autonomous product pods, creating alignment across complex technical initiatives and eliminating organizational silos.
- Define platform capabilities that improve payment execution, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Drive the development of intelligent payment workflows, including provider integrations, routing strategies, retries, failover mechanisms, and configurable transaction rules.
- Optimize transaction lifecycle management, including authorization, capture, refunds, chargebacks, settlement, reconciliation, and financial accuracy.
- Partner with engineering leaders to establish resilient architectures, observability practices, automation standards, and production ownership principles.
- Champion a “You Build It, You Run It” culture by ensuring teams take full ownership of solutions from design through production operations.
- Maintain a strong focus on platform stability, quality assurance, and operational excellence by implementing proactive reliability practices.
- Translate complex technical challenges into structured product decisions using data-driven prioritization frameworks such as RICE.
- Communicate technical trade-offs and strategic recommendations to executive stakeholders while balancing innovation, scalability, and business outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
