Technical Product Manager - ESG Data Product

Leads the strategic vision and roadmap for a technical product, demonstrating an understanding of the product(s) and associated business areas. Products often have divisional implications. As Vanguard continues to expand its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) capabilities, the need for high-quality, scalable, and interconnected ESG data has never been greater. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of enterprise data products supporting investment, stewardship, risk, compliance, and reporting outcomes across the firm.

We are seeking a Technical Product Manager who is passionate about solving complex data challenges and building products that create value across multiple business domains. In this role, you will partner closely with the ESG Data Product Family Manager, engineering teams, data architects, operations teams, and enterprise stakeholders to evolve Vanguard's ESG Data Product into a scalable, enterprise-grade data asset that supports a broad range of investment and business use cases. This role sits at the intersection of product management, data strategy, and technology delivery. You will play a critical role in translating strategic priorities into actionable product outcomes while helping drive adoption of modern data management practices, semantic data capabilities, and enterprise data standards across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Roadmap Execution & Backlog Management

    • Partner with product leadership to execute the ESG Data Product roadmap in alignment with business priorities and enterprise data strategy.
    • Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing stakeholder needs, technical dependencies, regulatory requirements, and delivery capacity.
    • Develop clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and product requirements that enable efficient engineering execution.
    • Collaborate closely with delivery lead, technology lead and engineers throughout planning, development, testing, and release activities.
  • Data Product Development

    • Support the continued evolution of Vanguard's ESG Data Product, including semantic modelling, data relationships, data management, and cross-domain data integration.
    • Partner with data architecture and engineering teams to ensure solutions are scalable, reusable, governed, and aligned with enterprise standards.
    • Provide business and technical context that enables engineering teams to successfully deliver complex data capabilities while maintaining the integrity of relationships across issuers, securities, holdings, entities, funds and benchmarks across other investment data domains.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
