Senior Technical Product Owner

Hybrid Working | 3 Days per Week in Preston

Help Shape the Next Generation of Enterprise Technology

Some Product Owner roles are about maintaining a backlog.
This isn't one of them.

This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised organisation at the forefront of digital transformation, where technology sits at the heart of the business and Product is genuinely empowered to influence strategic direction.
You'll work alongside exceptional Software Engineers, Architects and Product Leaders, helping deliver large-scale digital platforms used by customers across multiple international markets.
With significant investment in technology, modern engineering practices and product innovation, this is an environment where ambitious Product professionals can make a genuine impact while developing their own career within a world-class technology organisation.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Technical Product Owner, you'll become the driving force behind one of the organisation's engineering teams, taking ownership of the product backlog and ensuring every sprint delivers measurable business value.
You'll translate strategic product vision into clear, deliverable outcomes, balancing customer needs, commercial priorities and technical excellence.
Working across Product Management, Architecture, Engineering and Delivery, you'll influence decisions, challenge assumptions and help shape the future of enterprise-scale digital products.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with highly technical teams and taking ownership from concept through to delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own and continuously optimise the product backlog for a high-performing Agile engineering team.
  • Translate strategic product objectives into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria and technical requirements.
  • Prioritise work based on customer value, business objectives, technical dependencies and delivery capacity.
  • Partner closely with Software Engineers, Architects, UX, Delivery Managers and senior stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning and collaborative product workshops.
  • Balance delivery of new features alongside technical debt, platform improvements, BAU and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure engineering teams have clear priorities and a continual pipeline of delivery-ready work.
  • Manage dependencies, risks and competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
  • Use customer feedback, data and insight to drive informed product decisions.
  • Champion Agile best practice and contribute towards continuous improvement across Product and Engineering.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
