Role Overview

The Product Technical Specialist is a key member of the Agile Scrum Product Team, responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the UKI Edition of the Core Product. Working closely with the Product Owner, Product Manager and cross-functional team members, the role contributes to the delivery of high-quality product enhancements, defect resolutions and technical improvements that meet customer, business and regulatory requirements.

The Product Technical Specialist analyses enhancement requests, reported defects and implementation feedback, producing technical solutions that are scalable, maintainable and aligned with the product architecture. Responsibilities include software development, troubleshooting, technical design, release readiness, automated testing and continuous improvement to ensure that product changes are delivered to agreed quality standards within Sprint and release commitments.

The role collaborates closely with Product Management, Application Specialists, Implementation and Support teams to investigate issues, assess technical feasibility and support the successful adoption of new functionality. While the role is primarily office-based within the Product Team, occasional travel to customer sites, healthcare organisations or partner locations may be required to support technical investigations, workshops or other business activities.

Key Responsibilities

The Product Technical Specialist will act in accordance with Agile principles and work as part of a Scrum Team. Processes are updated as part of our ongoing culture of continuous improvement. The Product Technical Specialist will undertake the following:

  • Develop and maintain technical components including integrations, reports, data migration utilities, JavaScript enhancements and other product features.
  • Analyse customer enhancement requests, reported defects and implementation feedback to determine the most appropriate technical solution.
  • Produce technical specifications to support the delivery of new functionality and product enhancements.
  • Ensure all developments comply with product architecture, coding standards and quality expectations.
  • Maintain compatibility between the UKI Edition and Core Product releases, assessing the impact of Core Product changes on local functionality.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation to support ongoing development, support and knowledge sharing

Agile Product Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with the Product Owner, Product Manager and Scrum Team to refine, estimate and deliver Product Backlog Items.
  • Participate fully in Scrum ceremonies including Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Provide technical expertise during backlog refinement, identifying dependencies, technical risks and implementation approaches.
  • Estimate development effort and contribute to Sprint planning to support predictable delivery.
  • Deliver Sprint commitments in line with agreed priorities and the team's Definition of Done.
  • Collaborate closely with Application Specialists to translate business, clinical and customer requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Contribute to release planning by ensuring completed developments are ready for inclusion in product releases

Quality, Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Undertake unit testing and support integration, regression and user acceptance testing activities to ensure product quality.
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve software defects identified through customer support, testing, implementation activities or internal quality assurance.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of complex third-line issues relating to Edition functionality.
  • Assess reported issues to determine whether they represent software defects, configuration issues or enhancement opportunities.
  • Validate completed developments prior to release and support post-release issue resolution where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product performance, maintainability, usability and technical quality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Scrum Team, including development practices, tooling, automation and quality processes

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
