About the Role
This Technical Programme Plan Manager oversees the revitality, feasibility, and credibility of the integrated technical programme plan—ensuring it aligns with the broader transformation objectives. Collaborating with enterprise programme leads and partners (SI, SAP), you’ll orchestrate technology, data, integration, testing, and deployment planning; act as the single source of truth for planning accuracy; and challenge risk early to safeguard outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Integrated Technical Programming
- Architect, maintain, and govern the end-to-end technical programme plan, covering critical areas:
- Technology, data, integration, environments, and testing
- Cutover, stabilisation, and deployment sequencing
- Regulatory readiness and SAP-specific dependencies (e.g., environments, RISE selectivity, connectivity)
- Seamlessly coordinate across interdependent programmes and third-party partners (SAP, Systems Integrators, vendors).
- Ensure traceability from SAP design decisions to:
- Build progression
- Test transitions (SIT → UAT → regression → integration → mock conversions)
- Defect remediation cycles
- Partner with relevant leads to align technical plans with S4 deployment phases, issuance windows, and mock go/no-go population points.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Dependency & Critical Path Management
- Identify and mitigate cross-programme technical dependencies (data integrity, integration bottlenecks, environmental readiness).
- Define and communicate the true technical critical path; spot constraint drivers (e.g., resource, trials, dependencies) and sequencing risks.
- Partner with the Deployment Lead to align technical cutover with rehearsals and rehearsal dress themes, windows for data freezes, and go/no-go timelines.
- Assess and incorporate downstream impacts on:
- Environments (Pre-PROD, PROD provisioning)
- Testing (wave timings, volume testing, stability validation)
- Resource allocation
- Implement technically sound but operationally feasible cutovers that respect business continuity.
Plan Governance & Assurance
- Maintain rigorous traceability between strategic decisions, scope changes, assumptions, and plan adjustments.
- Standardise technical planning, consolidate change control into the master plan, and ensure transparency.
- Reconcile SI or vendor-provided plans into the master programme, ensuring alignment without bias.
Progress Tracking & Forecasting
- Forecast credibility, not timelines alone:
- S4 Readiness (e.g., design freeze, test entry/exit, live readiness, cutover windows).
- nay forward-looking metrics, integrating risks/RAID (outcome not blame) and pressurising test scenarios for feasibility. Keep stress-testing all phases (capacity, sequencing, early defect trending).
Profile & Technical Fit
Core Capabilities Required
- Proven expertise in multi-year transformation programmes, with deep (S/4 HANA, cross-domain) mastery:
- Sequencing, dependency modelling, and constraint monitoring.
- Design-to-build traceability, SAP-specific test cycles (SIT, UAT to mock conversions), mock deployments.
- Governance maturity:
- Outstanding knowledge of design authorisation, stage gates, and decision forums.
- Ability to map strategy into time-phased execution.
- Stakeholder influence:
- Framed insights as actionable, decision-ready content for business and technology leaders.
- Bridges gaps through skeptical listening while challenging plans constructively.
- Compelling communication:
- Translates complex technical intricacies into clear trade-offs for leadership.
