Contingent Recruitment Consultant

Location: London (working full US hours)
Salary: Competitive + commission
Type: Permanent

About Chapter 2

Chapter 2 is a global embedded talent and RPO consultancy. We partner with ambitious businesses to build the teams that build their future — and now we're growing our own.

About the Role

We're hiring a Contingent Recruitment Consultant to lead delivery on a major US tech hiring project. You'll own around twenty vacancies across AI/ML, Senior Architect, and Director-level positions, spanning UK and US markets. This is a permanent role with Chapter 2, with your initial focus on this contingent project.

One thing to be clear on from the start: this role runs on US hours. You'll be London-based but working to a US schedule — your working day will align with East Coast business hours, meaning afternoon and evening working in the UK. Your stakeholders, your candidates, and your client are on US time, and you need to be too. If that pattern doesn't work for you, this isn't the right role.

This is a delivery role for someone who thrives on pace. The roles are live, the client is ready, and we need someone who can hit the ground running — sourcing, qualifying, and closing senior technical talent at speed.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Running full-cycle recruitment across AI/ML, architecture, and director-level searches.
  • Building and executing sourcing strategies — headhunting, Boolean search, networking, referrals — to reach passive senior talent in competitive markets.
  • Qualifying candidates against complex technical briefs and presenting sharp, decision-ready shortlists.
  • Managing candidates through the full process: prep, feedback, offer negotiation, close.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on market conditions, salary benchmarks, and pipeline health.
  • Keeping your pipeline data clean and your reporting sharp — you'll know your numbers at all times.

What You'll Bring

  • Agency recruitment background in tech hiring — this is non-negotiable. You know how to run a desk, manage a pipeline, and close.
  • Experience recruiting for AI/ML, engineering, architecture, or adjacent technical roles, ideally at senior and leadership level.
  • A fast-paced agency mindset: target-driven, resilient, comfortable being measured on output.
  • Genuine autonomy. You don't need a playbook or daily direction — you work well in ambiguity and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Strong sourcing craft: LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean, talent mapping, and the persistence to engage candidates who aren't looking.
  • Sharp commercial instincts — you can qualify a brief, push back on unrealistic requirements, and negotiate offers that stick.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; you'll be dealing with senior stakeholders and senior candidates daily.
  • Ability and willingness to work US hours from the UK on a permanent basis — this is core to the role, not occasional.

Commission

You'll earn $3,000–$4,000 per IC placement and $7,500 per Director-level placement. This commission structure is specific to this project. If you transition to a different engagement — whether embedded with the client long-term or onto other contingent work — commission terms will be reviewed and agreed for that new arrangement.

Where This Goes

Deliver well on this project and the path opens up: convert to an embedded recruiter with the client long-term, or continue building on the contingent side. Either way, you'll have proven yourself on one of our most significant engagements.
