Technical Sales Engineer

We have a vacancy for a Technical Sales Engineer to cover both existing accounts and to seek out new opportunities in the U.K. and Ireland. The role involves supporting existing clients as well as seeking out new opportunities for our range of radio frequency (RF) & microwave components and systems. Our customer base is varied and includes the MoD, defence primes, research and development establishments, satcom, space and leading industrial, scientific & medical organisations.

Role Description

This is a full-time Technical Sales Engineer role based in Basingstoke with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing some work from home. The Technical Sales Engineer will engage with existing and prospective customers to understand technical requirements, propose suitable RF, microwave, and infrared solutions, and prepare quotations and detailed technical proposals. Daily tasks include responding to technical inquiries, providing pre- and post-sales support, coordinating with engineering and product teams, and attending customer meetings both on-site and remotely. The role also involves maintaining accurate sales pipelines, contributing to sales forecasts, supporting demonstrations and evaluations of equipment, and representing Link Microtek at industry events or trade shows as needed. The successful candidate will balance technical insight with commercial awareness to build long-term customer relationships and support business growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Person

  • Candidates must be UK residents and ideally possess a minimum HNC/HND/degree in a STEM subject or be able to demonstrate knowledge of electronic, RF or microwave applications typically in an aerospace, defence or telecoms organisation.
  • For example, some RF & microwave experience in test and measurement, surface mount, coaxial components, and amplifiers would be ideal, but we provide full product training so in-depth knowledge across each of those categories is not essential.
  • The position suits technicians or engineers who are looking to move into a customer-facing role or those already with experience in technical sales.
  • We’re happy to receive applications from graduates/early career or experienced technicians and engineers as we’re happy to adapt the role to suit the right individual.
  • Applicants must have a valid UK driving licence and it would be beneficial to have access to a vehicle as the role requires travel across the UK.
