Technical Sales Engineer – Field-Based / Remote – Manchester Area (North) – Permanent

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum + Commission + £500 Car Allowance | OTE £51,000+

We’re searching for a Technical Sales Engineer who can do more than just sell — someone who thrives on solving complex customer problems and turning technical insight into commercial success. If you’re motivated by variety, autonomy, and the chance to work with leading-edge mechanical and electromechanical solutions, this role is for you.

Our client is a bespoke engineering company delivering design, build, repair, and refurbishment solutions across multiple industries. With growth accelerating, they’re looking to add a Technical Sales Engineer to the team who can open new doors, re-ignite old accounts, and become a trusted partner to customers across the North of England.

The Role

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you’ll be field-based across the northern territory, managing your own schedule and ensuring maximum impact with both new and existing clients. You’ll have the opportunity to shape customer solutions, influence technical decisions, and directly drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visiting customers across the North of England for machine surveys and technical sales meetings
  • Advising on and selling motion control products and systems
  • Creating accurate technical quotations with supplier collaboration
  • Re-engaging lapsed and legacy accounts to uncover fresh opportunities
  • Tracking industry trends and identifying high-growth sectors
  • Managing a structured CRM pipeline while supporting marketing campaigns

  • Experienced Technical Sales Engineer or in a similar customer-facing engineering role
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering
  • Strong understanding of motion products (gearboxes, torque systems, inverters, drives, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills with strong commercial awareness
  • Independent, proactive, and confident managing a field-based diary
