Technical Sales Engineer – Metrology Solutions
Location: Field-based Midlands – LE, CV, BS, WV, DY, TF, SY Salary: £40,000 - £42,500 + Uncapped Bonus (circa £80,000 - £100,000+), Company Car + Benefits
About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious and technically minded Area Sales Engineer to join our growing team, selling a market-leading range of metrology and precision measurement solutions to customers across the automotive and aerospace sectors.
This is a consultative sales role focused on:
- Developing relationships with end users
- Identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing quality and productivity
- Providing tailored measurement solutions that add real value
Whether you already have experience selling metrology equipment or come from a precision engineering, cutting tools, or industrial consumables background, we’d like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow sales within an established territory
- Build strong relationships with manufacturing and engineering customers, particularly within automotive, aerospace, and precision engineering
- Identify new business opportunities while managing existing accounts
- Understand customer manufacturing processes and recommend appropriate metrology solutions
- Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations
- Work closely with application specialists and internal teams to deliver customer projects
- Manage the full sales cycle (prospecting → quotation → negotiation → order completion)
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and achieve agreed sales targets

What We’re Looking For
We are interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Selling metrology or precision measurement equipment
- Precision engineering or manufacturing
- Metal cutting or cutting tool sales
- Industrial consumables or technical engineering products
- Machine tools, CNC machining, or production engineering
Required skills & attributes:
- A proven track record in technical sales or a strong desire to transition into it
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering environments
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A consultative approach to identifying customer needs and delivering solutions
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage a field-based territory
- A full UK driving licence
