Technical Sales Executive - Commercial Lifts

Technical Lift Modernisation Sales Consultant

At Classic Lifts, we’re seeking a Technical Lift Modernisation Sales Consultant to join our expanding team. In this pivotal role, you will deliver premium lift modernisation and replacement solutions across Scotland and the wider UK, integrating technical engineering expertise with strong commercial acumen. Your responsibilities will include identifying, specifying, and securing projects that enhance lift safety, performance, and lifecycle value while working closely with technical, operational, and commercial teams to ensure compliant, feasible, and customer-aligned solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the following core tasks:

  • Conducting detailed site surveys on passenger, goods, and platform lifts, identifying obsolete or non-compliant components while producing accurate surveys with:

    • Measurements
    • Technical notes
    • Photographic evidence
  • Designing and specifying modernisation or replacement solutions, including:

    • Controllers and drives
    • Doors and door operators
    • Safety gear and circuits
    • Wiring and accessibility upgrades
  • Liaising with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure feasibility and compliance with industry standards.

  • Preparing and delivering professional quotations with:

    • Clear scope
    • Accurate pricing
    • Strong margins
  • Responding to technical queries and supporting customers throughout the decision-making process.

  • Managing and developing a sales pipeline by:

    • Building strong client relationships with customers, consultants, and key accounts
    • Identifying new business opportunities
    • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure project deliverability.

Expected Skills & Experience

Proven experience in these areas is essential:

  • Technical lift knowledge covering:

    • Traction systems
    • Hydraulic lifts
    • Machine Room Less (MRL) systems
    • Control systems
    • Safety circuits and door operators
    • A background in modernisation or lift engineering is highly desirable.
  • Regulatory awareness, including:

    • EN 81 (Lift safety: construction and installation of lifts)
    • BS 7255 (Lift safety: safe use of lifts and service)
    • LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)
  • The ability to conduct surveys, draft technical specifications, and ensure full compliance.

  • Commercial acumen with experience in:

    • Technical sales or engineering roles
    • Pricing strategies, forecasting, and confidently winning projects.
  • Strong organisational skills, workload management, and a structured approach to client engagements.

  • Excellent communication skills, proactive attitudes, and the ability to build and maintain relationships.

  • A full UK driving licence is required given this primarily hybrid, site-visit-heavy role.
