Technical Sales Manager
Technical Sales Manager – Automation & Engineered Solutions
OAL is seeking an experienced, commercially driven Technical Sales Manager to lead business growth across our automation and engineered solutions portfolio.
This role involves working closely with the Commercial Director and broader commercial team, taking ownership of a national sales territory. Responsibilities span the full sales lifecycle, from business development, customer engagement, negotiation, to contract closure.
We’re looking for a confident and credible sales professional with:
- Experience selling capital equipment, engineered solutions, or technical products in a complex B2B environment
- Commercial acumen, self-sufficiency, and strategic/operational adaptability
OAL specialises in automating food production, delivering innovative technology solutions that: ✔ Enhance efficiency ✔ Ensure compliance ✔ Support digital transformation
As Technical Sales Manager, you’ll collaborate with customers to identify operational and commercial value-adding opportunities, designing customised solutions. While prior experience in food manufacturing, automation, or industrial technology is advantageous, applicants with successful records in selling capital equipment or technical solutions across sectors are welcome.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationships
- Identify and secure new national business opportunities
- Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation to contract completion
- Embed strong relationships with customers and decision-makers

Technical & Commercially Astute Solutions
- Align customer requirements with viable technical proposals
- Prepare and defend proposals, quotes, and contracts
- Negotiate pricing, terms and strategic partnerships
Account Management & Strategic Leadership
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline visibility, forecasts, and customer records
- Partner with technical-operational teams to ensure project delivery
- Stay informed on market trends and competitor activity
- Represent OAL professionally at customer meetings, site visits, and industry events
Performance & Growth Delivery
- Meet and exceed sales targets and performance objectives
What We Are Looking For
- B2B sales prowess with success selling capital equipment or technical solutions
- Proven track record in:
- Winning new business within technical/industrial environments
- Managing complex sales cycles and multi-stakeholder accounts
- Negotiating long-term customer agreements or strategic partnerships
- Commercial awareness and resilience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, prioritising client relationships
- Self-motivated, proactive, and team-focused
- Punctual and reliable for travel (driving licence required for site visits, meetings, and events)

Preferred Experience: Familiarity with selling manufacturing machinery, packaging equipment, process systems, material handling, or other capital assets.
