Technical Sales Manager – Single Cell Sequencing

The Position

As Technical Sales Manager at Parse Biosciences, you’ll drive sales growth for our single-cell RNA sequencing solutions. Reporting to senior leadership, you’ll leverage your technical expertise and sales acumen to develop new accounts while nurturing existing relationships across:

  • Academic institutions
  • Biotech organisations
  • Pharmaceutical companies

Key focus areas include:

  • Single cell genomics market expertise
  • Strategic account management
  • Pipeline development (short-term and long-term)
  • Technical decision-making support for customers

Core Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop a high-performance sales strategy tailored to the nordic England/Scotland territory, including:
    • Prospecting for new leads (life sciences researchers, lab managers, research directors)
    • Managing existing accounts to ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty
    • Engineering close rates for mid-to-large commercial and academic deals
    • Mixing volume sales with high-value, complex transactions
  • Construct quarterly and annual business plans aligned with Parse’s growth ambitions, integrating both tactical execution and strategic insights.
  • Work with prospecting specialists to refine account targeting and maximise discovery rates.
  • Continuously benchmark against competitors and advise management on market trends, customer feedback, and competitor tactics.

Technical Sales Expertise

  • Proficiency in translating protein-coding genes, transcriptome analysis, and NGS workflows into value propositions for customers.
  • Collaborate with Field Application Scientists to tailor technical solutions for diverse research applications:
    • Single-cell DNA and RNA libraries
    • TCR/BCR repertoire analysis
    • Spike-in controls and experimental parameter optimisation
  • Lead monetization strategies to convert pilot research (e.g., 100–500 cells) into higher-value project expansion.
  • Expand knowledge of emerging single-cell technologies and translational applications.

Operational Excellence

  • CRM proficiency: Utilise tools to track all stages of the sales funnel with precision, ensuring accurate visibility of pipeline progress.
  • Collaborate on forecasting targets and coach internal teams to optimise consistent quote attainment.
  • Share technical sales insights that cross-functional teams (marketing, customer support, product R&D) can translate into product improvements.
  • Travel domestically and internationally: Participate in lab demonstrations, conferences, and company events (e.g., biannual Seattle headquarters training).

Key Qualifications

  • Academic Background: Degree in biology/genomics or closely related field required. Post-graduate qualification (Master’s/PhD) advantage.
  • Sales Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years in formal sales/channel management, preferably in:
      • Next-generation sequencing (NGS)
      • Genomics or life sciences single-cell applications
  • Lab Background: Hands-on experience in a molecular biology lab is highly preferred, with demonstrable knowledge of:
    • Transcriptome data analysis
    • NGS library prep workflows
    • rtPCR and cDNA synthesis basics
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to explain technical details simply to both researchers and decision-makers.
  • Location: Permanent home office based in Northern England/Scotland (flexibility to manage remote access to labs for product training).

Application Requirements

  • English proficiency to engage across문이-closure scales of customers in diverse technical settings.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, including overnight field trips to London, academic meetings in Edinburgh, and US headquarters visits.

Job Conditions

  • Work Arrangements:
    • Remote hybrid model with robust internet access and a high-quality workspace to support ad-hoc experiments (sequencing kit inventory).
    • Regular collaboration via Zoom meetings, Slack, and email.
  • Travel Policy:
    • Local/regional: Daily field visits to Manchester/Liverpool/Edinburgh etc.
    • National: Bi-annual visits to headquarters in Seattle.
    • Visa Compliance: Valid right to reside/be-have in the UK for scope of role.
    • Willingness to accommodate urgent priority requirements.

Compensation & Recognition

  • Annual Base Pay: £80,000–£95,000 GBP
  • Variable Income: up to $65k US equivalent fees on target (commissions are uncapped).
