Technical Sales Manager – Commercial & Industrial Business Development

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Sales Manager to join the Commercial & Industrial division of a global engineering business. This commercially focused role involves:
- Identifying, developing, and securing large-scale engineered power projects
- Support of transactional equipment sales across the UK & Ireland
- Building relationships with consultants, contractors, end users, and key stakeholders to develop a strong pipeline of opportunities from initial enquiry to project completion
- Collaborating with engineering and project delivery teams to prepare technical proposals, negotiate commercial agreements, and deliver solutions ensuring long-term customer value
The ideal candidate will be a mechanical or electrical engineer transitioning into a more commercial role, leveraging their technical expertise while driving high-value sales and project development.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy &Sales: Identify, engage, and retain new business leads while maintaining existing relationships
- Project Development: Drive complex sales projects from early-stage enquiries to successful contract delivery
- Technical Input: Draft and review engineered technical proposals tailored to customer needs
- Contract Negotiation: Work closely with procurement teams to secure competitive commercial agreements
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with all levels of stakeholders, delivering persuasive technical and commercial arguments
- Performance Tracking: Monitor sales targets and market trends to continuously improve pipeline growth
- Collaboration: Partner with engineering, project, and delivery teams to ensure seamless project execution

Requirements
- Sector Experience: Proven sales experience in power generation, energy, or related technical engineering sectors
- New Business suchen: Track record of winning new high-value contracts and managing complex project sales
- Technical Background: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification required
- Sales Aptitude: Proven ability to grasp customer requirements and deliver tailored engineered solutions
- Balanced Workload: Comfortable balancing strategic project development with day-to-day client-facing activity
- Soft Skills: Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities
- Mindset: Self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastically driven to develop new business opportunities

- Salary: £50,000–£55,000 (depending on experience)
- Quarterly Bonus: Competitive earnings potential with upside potential equivalent to 20% of salary
