Technical Sales Manager
for OAL – Automation Specialists to the Food Industry
OAL is seeking an experienced, commercially driven Technical Sales Manager to drive growth across our automation and engineered solutions portfolio. Join our team to help food manufacturers achieve greater efficiency, compliance, and digital transformation through innovative technologies.
About the Role
Working closely with the Commercial Director and wider commercial team, you’ll lead a UK-wide sales territory, managing the entire sales lifecycle—from business development and customer engagement to negotiation and contract closure. As our Technical Sales Manager, you’ll work with key decision-makers to identify operational improvements and propose tailored solutions that deliver measurable value.
While experience in food manufacturing, automation, or industrial technology is highly beneficial, OAL values candidates with a proven track record of selling capital equipment, engineered solutions, or technical products across complex B2B environments. This role requires commercial acumen, strategic autonomy, and the ability to balance leadership and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving Business Growth
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across the UK.
- Manage the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to contract completion.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, engaging with decision-makers at all levels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
