Technical Sales Project Manager

Technical Solutions Consultant

(Sustainable Beverage & Food Technologies – Westhoughton, Bolton)

About the Role

You’ll bridge the gap between technical innovation and customer-driven sales, playing a pivotal part in:

  • Guiding Sales Managers and customers toward tailored solutions from the Krones portfolio.
  • Collaborating with Technical Specialists to provide seamless, industry-specific support.
  • Managing customer enquiries, proposal development, and quotation processes.
  • Supporting CAD draughtsmen with production line design and tender documentation.
  • Aligning commercial contracts with UK and Germany-based teams to ensure profitability and delivery.
  • Engaging with third-party suppliers, service teams, and global Krones hubs (Italy, Germany) to clarify customer needs.
  • Monitoring project profitability, contract variations, and costs (via SAP/CRM).
  • Visiting customers (UK/Europe, total ~30-40% travel) for training, presentations, and technical clarifications.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Technical Engagement

  • Provide in-depth technical leadership to positioning optimal solutions in the beverage/food processing sector.
  • Compile and update customer specifications for detailed quotations, ensuring technical accuracy.
  • Offer live support to Area Sales Managers during visits, presentations, and contract negotiations.

Project & Compliance Coordination

  • Liaise with Service Operations to finalise on-site responsibilities and clarify roles with stakeholders.
  • Understand Health & Safety and Construction Design & Management (CDM) requirements for installations.
  • Track quotation statuses, set clear return timelines, and manage project pipelines effectively.

Reporting & Financial Oversight

  • Log technical details into SAP/CRM systems for sales tracking and monitoring.
  • Identify contract variations with the Service Operations team to optimise cost control.
  • Orally and in writing deliver cost/benefit analysis to support commercial decisions.

Business Development & Presentation

  • Evidence Krones’ expertise to senior client stakeholders at high-visibility events.
  • Explain engineering inputs (capital equipment, packaging machinery, high-speed production lines) in aligned client workshops.

Your Profile

We’re looking for a tactical problem-solver with:

Industry Expertise

  • Experience in beverage, food, or associated industries (advantageous).
  • Paid or voluntary roles in medium-to-high-speed packaging equipment or capital sales markets.

Technical & Commercial Mindset

  • Formal engineering/technical degree, or demonstrated equivalent expertise.
  • Proven project management experience in fast-paced environments.

Commercial & Contractual Fluency

  • Sharp budget control skills and knowledge of contractual forms (eg: MF1 model).
  • Understanding of building engineering tenders and technicalquiries in complex sales pipelines.
  • Budgetary forecasting and cost analysis skills.

Technical & System Literacy

  • SAP ERP and CRM systems experience rated as an asset; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is mandatory.
  • Quick adapter to new software and operational tools.

Collaboration & Independence

  • Self-driven and project-leadership capable.
  • Ability to operate within a UK team while strategically bridging cross-border knowledge (Germany, industry partners).
