We are now recruiting a Technical Service Specialist to support our customers in Oxford and the surrounding areas.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Technical Service Specialist, your role will be pivotal in:

  • Supporting our global customer base with installation, deinstallation, repairs, upgrades, and training.
  • Serving as a single point of contact for clinical decision-makers, lab technologists, and customer managers.
  • Ensuring instrument reliability through planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Driving operational excellence by delivering prompt and expert technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer & Site Support

    • Coordinates scheduled technical visits (installations, upgrades, and deinstallations).
    • Conducts new customer and site inspections for contract/tender preparation and equipment design.
    • Performs IQOQ (Installation Qualification & Operational Qualification) procedures.
  • Technical Maintenance & Upgrades

    • Arranges and executes planned maintenance visits to prevent failures.
    • Delivers hardware/software upgrades (TSBs) and maintains comprehensive documentation.
    • Implements and verifies new instrumentation and automation systems (e.g., AbbottLink).
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer

    • Provides introductory training for instrument operators post-installation or upgrades.
    • Supports other Technical Service Specialists with technical coaching and best practices.
  • Customer Engagement

    • Assists in customer business reviews with key stakeholders (e.g., Medical Directors,lab managers).
    • Collaborates to resolve technical and operational challenges with reflective problem-solving.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

We seek a hands-on technical professional with specialized knowledge to recognise opportunities for improvement and optimisation in our customer and operational interface.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in one of the following:
    • Medical sciences
    • Electrical/electronic engineering
    • Mechanical engineering
    • Medical technology (preferred)
  • Proven track record in a similar role, evidenced by:
    • References from managers and customers.
    • Customer-facing engagements, particularly with clinical and technical management contacts.
  • Technical expertise in product line responsibility:
    • Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, or biochemistry instrumentation.
    • Strong grasp of diagnostics standards, automation systems, and workflows.
  • Communication &Coaching Skills
    • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-specialists (e.g., lab staff, customers).
    • Materials handling skills (e.g., fitting/unpacking test equipment) in a cleanroom or healthcare environment.
