Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Technical Service & Support Engineer to join our client, a leading sector organisation based across the UK/Ireland region, supporting customers with a full range of analytical instrumentation. This field-based role focuses on delivering high standards of on-site service, preventative maintenance, and responsive breakdown support, while ensuring accurate reporting and proactive planning.
You will work closely with the Service Coordinator and Service Management to keep service activity running smoothly—optimising visit scheduling, ensuring the right parts are identified in advance, and maintaining strong customer relationships across HPLC, GC, MS, and gas generator platforms.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Your duties as the Job Title will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Ensuring the successful installation, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of supported analytical instrumentation to deliver a consistently high level of customer outcomes.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) at customer sites, ensuring correct planning and associated spare parts are in place.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment breakdowns at customer sites, following agreed processes for timely restoration of service.
- Conduct pre-visit qualification calls to identify parts requirements for both PPM and breakdown activities, wherever possible.
- As the Job Title you will complete accurate service reports for all service activity and own the problem through to resolution to the satisfaction of the customer.

Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Job Title we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in field (e.g., Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Quality Assurance / Quality Management for QA roles) with a strong science background, preferably chemistry/biochemistry and electronics.
- Proven knowledge of the operation, service, repair, and requirements of analytical instrumentation, with a strong preference for chromatography (HPLC/UPLC/GC) and associated mass spectrometers.
- Demonstrable capability working with chromatography operating and data capture systems such as ChemStation, Clarity, OpenLab, or Empower.
- Proven experience in analytical laboratory environments and excellent report writing skills, with strong time management and organisation of own tasks.
- Proven understanding of IQ/OQ/PQ (advantageous) and working to appropriate ISO standards, plus confidence in remote diagnostic and phone support.
