Location: Home working, with required travel to assess those enquiring about SELECT Membership, and to deliver on site training courses. Attendance at the SELECTs office (The Walled Garden, Bush Estate, Midlothian, EH26 0SB) will be required at times.
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: To be determined based on confirmed experience and qualifications.
Closing Date: Friday 31 July 2026.
About the Role
SELECT is seeking a Technical Services Adviser to support the Director of Technical Services through the Technical Services Manager by providing high quality and cost-effective support for Members in the area of technical compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of technical assistance and services to Members.
- Provision of technical services for SELECT through the Technical Services Manager.
- Assisting Director of Technical Services and Technical Services Manager as required.
- To always act according to the staff’s shared values and customer service standards.
- In addition to these functions, Technical Services Advisers are required to carry out other duties as may be reasonably required.

What We’re Looking For
This role requires the candidates to hold a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the electrotechnical industry, which includes training and safety responsibilities. In addition to this, applicants must:
- Be an experienced Electrical Engineer with professional registration.
- Have good knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- Have up to date knowledge and qualification in BS 7671:2018 (as amended) Requirements for Electrical Installation - IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
- Able to prepare letters, reports, minutes, technical guidance and training material.
- Able to deliver technical presentations to a high standard using a variety of methods.
- Have a full driving license.
