Technical Services Engineer – Enterprise Health (On-site, Primarily NHS Environment)

Our Technical Services Engineer role focuses on the day-to-day operational support of enterprise hosting platforms critical to a major healthcare environment. Operating as part of the Telefónica Tech Hosting Team, this hands-on technical role ensures the stability, security, and performance of a large-scale infrastructure estate, including:

  • VMware virtualisation
  • Windows Server platforms
  • Active Directory & core components (DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services)
  • Support for Citrix virtualisation
  • Enterprise storage & backup platforms
  • Application hosting services

This is an opportunity to develop broad enterprise platform expertise while contributing to the evolution of a critical NHS hosting environment.

Main Requirements: ✔ Primarily on-site at the customer location (minimum 4 days per week) ✔ Occasional travel to Telefónica Tech hubs for team meetings

Responsibilities

The Technical Services Engineer will:

  • Maintain high availability, reliability, and performance of enterprise-managed hosting environments supporting clinical and business services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents across virtualised, Windows Server, and Active Directory environments.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and change management while adhering to an ITIL framework.
  • Support virtualisation (VMware), Citrix virtual desktops, storage, and backup platforms.
  • Assist in infrastructure automation and scripting to streamline operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service alignment with business needs.

Requirements

Essential Experience

🔹 Proven experience supporting Windows Server in enterprise environments 🔹 Deep knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and network infrastructure 🔹 Experience in virtualised environments (VMware ESXi, ESX) 🔹 Strong troubleshooting skills for production-seeking stabilisation 🔹 Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) 🔹 Managed services or shared hosting experience (minimum 2+ years) 🔹 Exposure to Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktop environments 🔹 Experience with enterprise backup (Commvault, Veritas/Veeam, etc.) 🔹 Understanding of enterprise storage (DAS, NAS, SAN, Hyperconverged) 🔹 Basic networking skills (routing, switching, firewall configurations)

📌 Technical VMware Certified Professional (VCP) Microsoft Infrastructure Certifications (MCSE, Azure Essentials, etc.) Citrix Certified Associate (CCA - Virtualization)
