HGV Technician – Fleet Maintenance Centre, Eastleigh
Salary Range: £36,363 - £38,220 per annum, plus market supplement of £3,500 per annum Work Location: Fleet Maintenance Centre, Eastleigh Hours: 37 per week Contract: Permanent Closing Date: 1 August 2026
About the Role
Join a team that ensures emergency services remain operational across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Technician to maintain and repair the critical fleet supporting frontline firefighters. Every task you perform helps guarantee reliable vehicles for those protecting communities—your work directly impacts emergency response.
The Role
You will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, inspection, diagnose, and repair of a diverse fleet, including:
- Fire appliances
- Pumps
- Specialist emergency response vehicles and associated equipment
- Vans, cars, and 4x4 vehicles
- Trailers
Key Responsibilities:
- Planned preventive maintenance
- Inspections to DVSA standards
- Fault diagnosis
- Electrical installations and repairs
- Emergency breakdown support
Duty Technician Rota:
Upon training and assessment, you’ll rotate as a duty technician (1 in 5 coverage), providing out-of-hours technical support to the operational fleet. This includes responding to call-outs when required, enhancing the role with a 16% salary increment.
