Technical Solutions Architect - Commercial
We're looking for a Technical Solutions Architect to take a leading role in coordinating and delivering high-quality security system designs. You’ll work closely with a dedicated design team, bringing strong technical expertise, a solid understanding of commercial security environments, and the ability to manage a design programme from concept through to completion. This role would suit someone with a strong understanding of security systems that can balance independent problem‑solving with collaborative teamwork. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design Leadership & Coordination Coordinate the full project design process with internal and external teams. Act as the primary point of contact for design projects, engaging proactively with key stakeholders. Guide and support the design team throughout each stage of the design. Review and validate designs at all required checkpoints to ensure accuracy and compliance. Technical Expertise Demonstrate a working understanding of CAD processes and effective file management. Take ownership of all engineering elements within the design. Act as a key technical expert in system design, specifications, and integration. Develop compliant, high‑quality security system designs that meet all project requirements. Stay informed on emerging technologies and assess their relevance to future solutions. Documentation & Quality Assurance Review, create, and verify essential design documents including system specifications, bills of materials, and detailed schedules. Respond promptly to requests for information (RFIs), ensuring clarity and alignment with project specifications. Maintain accurate records and contribute to a “lessons identified” register to support continuous improvement. Site Engagement Conduct site visits before, during, and after design phases - including international travel where required. Evaluate how design ideas match up with real-world scenarios to enhance and confirm our solutions. Participate in QA/QC site visits to support installation quality, working closely with integrators and contractors. Attend site visits when RFIs require on‑site clarification or further investigation. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the wider design team to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met consistently. Attend internal and external design sync calls, taking minutes when required. Maintain all relevant professional certifications. Build strong relationships with third‑party suppliers and internal departments to uphold standards and ensure seamless project delivery. Essential: Attention to detail in fast-paced environment. Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications. We're looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Access Control, Intruder Alarm, and IP CCTV systems. Experience with enterprise security systems is a must. This includes, but is not limited to, platforms such as CCure, Lenel/S2, Gallagher, Genetec, and Honeywell. Basic understanding of network topology and parameters for design. Knowledge of survey techniques and handling of site survey data. Basic understanding of CAD. Strong communication and presentations skills. Non-Essential: Previous design experience is advantageous. A basic understanding of the RIBA 8-stage design process. Experience with various design management systems, such as BIM360, REVIT or NAVIS Works. We are employee-owned!
