Job Title: ESS Technical Solution Engineer
Assignment Type: Permanent Hire Staff Role
Location: London, UK, with substantial national travel
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
About the Role
The ESS Technical Solution Engineer role combines application engineering and sales engineering. You will support and service customers by demonstrating product functions, technical benefits, and value to help them achieve their business goals and to help the company win opportunities.
You will work closely with clients, understanding their specific needs, and use your in-depth understanding of the company's products and services to provide tailored solutions. You will also gather feedback from clients and bridge the gap between internal development teams and customer requirements, helping to refine products and services based on customer needs and experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Product Demonstration
- Develop a deep understanding of the products and services.
- Clearly explain complex technical concepts to clients.
- Contribute to sales presentations, demonstrating product benefits, value, and completed applications.
Client Engagement
- Interact directly with clients to understand their needs, challenges, and requirements, as well as competition information.
- Gather and analyse information on client projects and requirements.
- Identify opportunities where the company's solutions can add value and help win business.

Solution Development
- Develop solutions that align with client projects once their needs are understood.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design tailored solutions addressing specific challenges.
- Provide clients with technical support as needed and relay information to internal development teams for product development and updates.
Proposal Creation
- Create detailed proposals outlining proposed solutions and their benefits.
- Address both technical aspects and business value for the client.
- Prepare documentation according to customer requirements, which may include specifications, user manuals, disposal proposals, and related materials.
Technical Support
- Provide ongoing technical support to clients.
- Answer questions, address concerns, and assist with any technical issues that arise.
Technical Agreement Negotiations
- Take part in negotiations with clients, addressing technical concerns and clarifying expectations.
- Ensure both parties are aligned on the proposed solution to form final technical agreements.

Risk Assessment and Problem Solving
- Identify potential issues in advance and propose preventative solutions.
- Resolve technical issues during manufacturing, delivery, and commissioning until successful handover to the customer.
- Cooperate with internal development and project management teams when required.
Market Research
- Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and customer feedback.
- Generate ideas for product and service improvements and innovation based on market trends and customer input.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years work experience in the UK/EU ESS market.
- Previous work experience as an application engineer or sales engineer in the ESS market is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a utility or ESS developer company is advantageous.
- Knowledge of UK/EU ESS project development requirements is advantageous.
