Technical Specialist – Baggage Operations
We are easyJet – a FTSE-250 listed, £multi-billion low-cost airline that serves tens of millions of customers every single year. If you’re reading this, you have probably already been an easyJet customer, and you’ll know that there is no more iconic (or Orange!) travel brand in Europe.
We fly more than 1,207 routes, connecting 38 countries across Europe, and employ more than 18,000 colleagues. We’re on a mission to make low-cost travel easy – and whatever your role here, you’ll connect millions of people to what they love using Europe’s best airline network, great value fares, and friendly service.
What makes us easyJet? Our Promise Behaviours – we are Safe, Bold, Welcoming and Challenging. Four Behaviours. One Spirit. One easyJet.
Role Overview
Are you ready to shape the future of travel tech? As our Technical Specialist – Baggage Operations, you will drive the resilience, scalability, and technical evolution of critical systems that impact millions of passengers.
Baggage operations are the heart of safe, on-time airline performance. In this role, you will design, configure, and evolve technologies spanning Self-Service Bag Drop (SBD), real-time tracking, reconciliation compliance, and multi-supplier integrations. Over the next 2–3 years, you will champion major network expansions, transition fragmented tech into standardised models, and pioneer next-generation telemetry and observability across our entire airport estate.
Job Purpose
You will bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and live airport environments. Operating within an agile (Scrum) framework, you will ensure third-party baggage systems seamlessly integrate into our central monitoring and support ecosystem. Your mission is to balance short-term troubleshooting with long-term architectural stability, directly improving operational uptime, multi-vendor interoperability, and the ultimate customer baggage journey.
Key Accountabilities
Lifecycle Management & Quality Assurance
- Design Technical Solutions: Translate operational requirements into scalable, resilient baggage technology solutions.
- System Integration: Merge third-party baggage systems into a cohesive, highly observable enterprise network.
- Embed Observability: Ensure monitoring, logging, and proactive alerting are built into every solution by design.
- Lifecycle Planning: Manage tech upgrades, decommissioning, and standardisation across multiple airports.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
