About The Role
We seek a Technical Specialist – Bioanalysis & Biotransformation to join our Metabolism team in Rushden.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical expert in metabolite identification and structure elucidation using high-resolution mass spectrometry.
- Conduct analytical and metabolite identification work for regulatory and non-regulatory studies, including:
- In vitro, in vivo, clinical
- Large molecule/biological and environmental fate studies
- Develop and optimise LC-MS/MS chromatographic methods across the Metabolism Department.
- Interpret analytical data and prepare:
- Scientific updates
- Study documentation
- Report contributions
- Collaborate with Study Directors and Analytical Project Managers to ensure project success.
- Contribute to client communications, discussions, and training in bioanalysis.
- Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge.
- Lead process improvement and new service development.
- Maintain equipment, laboratory areas, and SOPs/compliance:
- GLP standards
- Health & Safety
- GxP requirements
- Support external profile raising through:
- Publications
- Posters
- Presentations
- Expert groups

Candidate Profile
Education & Qualifications
- PhD, MSc, or BSc (Hons) in:
- Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Related scientific disciplines
Experience & Technical Skills
- Metabolite identification experience in:
- CRO
- Pharmaceutical
- Agrochemical industries
- Chromatographic method development expertise.
- Regulated laboratory environment (GLP/GxP) experience beneficial.
- High-resolution mass spectrometry proficiency:
- Waters Vion
- Thermo Q Exactive
- Software skills:
- Xcalibur
- Waters UNIFI
- Compound Discoverer
