About The Role

We seek a Technical Specialist – Bioanalysis & Biotransformation to join our Metabolism team in Rushden.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical expert in metabolite identification and structure elucidation using high-resolution mass spectrometry.
  • Conduct analytical and metabolite identification work for regulatory and non-regulatory studies, including:
    • In vitro, in vivo, clinical
    • Large molecule/biological and environmental fate studies
  • Develop and optimise LC-MS/MS chromatographic methods across the Metabolism Department.
  • Interpret analytical data and prepare:
    • Scientific updates
    • Study documentation
    • Report contributions
  • Collaborate with Study Directors and Analytical Project Managers to ensure project success.
  • Contribute to client communications, discussions, and training in bioanalysis.
  • Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge.
  • Lead process improvement and new service development.
  • Maintain equipment, laboratory areas, and SOPs/compliance:
    • GLP standards
    • Health & Safety
    • GxP requirements
  • Support external profile raising through:
    • Publications
    • Posters
    • Presentations
    • Expert groups

Candidate Profile

Education & Qualifications

  • PhD, MSc, or BSc (Hons) in:
    • Chemistry
    • Biochemistry
    • Related scientific disciplines

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Metabolite identification experience in:
    • CRO
    • Pharmaceutical
    • Agrochemical industries
  • Chromatographic method development expertise.
  • Regulated laboratory environment (GLP/GxP) experience beneficial.
  • High-resolution mass spectrometry proficiency:
    • Waters Vion
    • Thermo Q Exactive
  • Software skills:
    • Xcalibur
    • Waters UNIFI
    • Compound Discoverer

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Mass spectometry and LC-MS/MS data interpretation.
  • Structure elucidation of metabolites.
