Technical Specialist – Oil Conditioning Monitoring

37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

Main Duties

  • Ensuring all samples received are diagnosed and issued within turnaround times according to business and customer requirements
  • Performing investigational analysis, including planning and executing out-of-scope operations, analysis, and generation of bespoke reporting in accordance with business and customer requirements
  • Providing technical assistance to team leaders or colleagues to maintain service levels and ensure efficient laboratory operations
  • Liaising with customers to inform them of analytical test issues (e.g., delays) and maintain customer satisfaction and confidence, including sporadic face-to-face site visits
  • Maintaining instrument uptime by assisting stakeholders in resolving analytical challenges (e.g., ICP, Viscosity, FTIR)

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

Key Experience Requirements

  • Experience in a used oil laboratory environment or within the lubricant industry technical role
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis
  • Familiarity with wet chemistry analysis
  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel (specifically Excel Advanced M commands)

Essential Qualifications/Education

  • Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry qualification (e.g., C&G, HNC, HND)
  • Time-served experience in interpreting FTIR, GC-MS, ICP data
