Technical Supervisor – New Opportunity!
BD Group is seeking an experienced and driven Technical Supervisor to oversee our Reactive Repairs and WIP team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to managing operatives and subcontractors in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the Reactive Repairs and WIP teams from first report through to completion. Supervise directly employed operatives and specialist subcontractors, ensuring high standards of workmanship and performance. Conduct site visits, pre- and post-inspections, and monitor works to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Ensure accurate raising, allocation, and completion of work orders, including chasing progress and managing invoicing processes. Liaise with scheduling teams to ensure job specifications and durations are accurate and fit for purpose. Monitor and report on contractor and operative performance against KPIs, budgets, and quality standards. Act as a key point of contact for residents and clients, resolving queries, issues, and complaints effectively. Attend and contribute to team meetings, subcontractor reviews, and stakeholder meetings (including occasional evenings or weekends). Deliver toolbox talks, conduct inductions, and support onboarding of new operatives and subcontractors. Support HR processes where required, including disciplinaries, grievances, and exit procedures. Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety legislation and BD Group policies. Work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to deliver a high-quality service.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Relevant trade qualification(s) within the repairs or construction sector. Proven experience in a supervisory role within social housing, construction, or responsive repairs. Strong technical knowledge, including experience diagnosing defects in domestic properties (ideally damp and mould). Experience managing subcontractors and directly employed labour. Knowledge of building industry Health & Safety requirements and compliance standards. Experience working with schedules of rates for maintenance or minor works. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Demonstrable project management and organisational skills. Good commercial awareness and understanding of budgets, cost control, and financial processes. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the borough.

Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. Problem-solving approach with strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Resilient, adaptable, and methodical in approach.
