About the Role
A role working to solve technical issues and avoid or minimise corrosion in our global aerosol products by means of formulation choice, testing on corrosion inhibition and specification of robust packaging. You will become an expert in the technical support available for aerosol categories company-wide, interfacing with key partners and stakeholders from other R&D groups, supply, quality, procurement, and externally with aerosol packaging suppliers to solve problems with manufactured product.

Based within the Hull R&D team, the role is expected to be split between laboratory and office based.
Your Responsibilities
- To provide cross category support for the development of new and existing products through:
- Assessment of the corrosion potential of formulations and recommendation of appropriate corrosion inhibitor systems for formulations. Understanding the role of ingredients in corrosion and formulation robustness to manufacturing tolerances
- Assessment of packaging components and working with suppliers to develop and prepare robust specifications
- Identification of cost saving opportunities in aerosol packaging or corrosion inhibitor systems
- Review and confirm the interpretation of storage test data to ensure robust decisions are made
- Development of new methods for predicting corrosion in aerosols, keeping abreast of new techniques
- Providing practical and timely business solutions to overcome and/or prevent aerosol corrosion issues on the marketplace
- To work with R&D teams to develop and implement a plan for technical support, responding to the needs of the different projects.
- To work with external consultants and component suppliers to solve problems relating to aerosol corrosion
- To ensure that all aerosol related test methods are robust, validated and satisfy both the internal requirements and that of external bodies globally
- To continually strive to improve and develop the service provided and promote it within Vestacy
- Ensure all activities comply with legislative, Health & Safety, and environmental requirements, promoting laboratory best practices
- Apply basic laboratory techniques and maintain hands-on bench competence
- Adhere to SOP/GLP standards, including safe operation and maintenance of lab equipment, accurate documentation, and high standards of safety and housekeeping
- Work with line manager to set and progress personal career development objectives

The Experience We're Looking For
- Graduate in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong organisational skills
- Good formulation knowledge with understanding of chemical interactions
- Ability to analyse and interpret laboratory data, including statistical evaluation of results
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, assess, and communicate risks
- Effective interpersonal, negotiation, and networking skills to build strong working relationships
- Strong analytical mindset with intellectual curiosity and willingness to explore new ideas
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with confident presentation ability
