Avon and Somerset Police – IT Team
Avon and Somerset Police are seeking a Technical Support Co-ordinator to join their busy and friendly IT team within the Applications Delivery area.
The Applications Delivery team is composed of people-focused technical specialists dedicated to maintaining robust, high-visibility business systems that ensure policing information is readily available when and where it’s needed.
You’ll provide technical and business functional support for the current CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) system as well as other critical business systems. If you have:
- Strong IT systems administration experience (user account provisioning, access control, system configuration),
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, and
- Fluent numerical aptitude,
then you could be the ideal Technical Support Co-ordinator for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate freely within a designated team and across virtual teams as required
- Ensure efficient management of system data and relevant technical applications
- Support operation of delivered services against agreed performance standards, governance, and ITIL practices
- Provide technical and IT services support to meet the needs of the police force
- Maintain conformity and quality standards, including developing and issuing formal system guidance
- Offer procedural support on high-risk incidents, victims, and locations, ensuring confidential, high-profile, and sensitive information compliance
- Proactively recommend service improvements and implement developmental or remedial actions based on feedback or reviews
- Assist in IT incident/programme, change management, and service support activities
- Collaborate as part of a team to utilise and execute service management processes
- Share technical knowledge across support and development services

Essential Requirements
Technical & Functional Skills
- 3+ years’ experience in IT systems administration, including:
- User account provisioning
- Access control management
- Enterprise application configuration
- Understanding of structured IT service environments with familiarity with ITIL principles (Incident, Request, Change, and Problem Management)
- Knowledge of core IT environments, covering:
- Command and Control applications
- End-user devices
- Networks and integration points
- Strong customer service orientation

- Inattentive details is not an option – you must maintain accurate, auditable records and system documentation in line with governance and audit requirements
Operational Competencies
- Ability to prioritise and manage competing support demands within a high-operational workload environment
Additional Requirements
Bereft of excessive jargon, your expertise is expected to endure the requirement for travel across the force area. Hence:
- A valid UK driving license is mandatory
Security Clearance
To qualify for this role, you must have five years of UK checkable history—ideally, a five-year continuous residence in the UK.
