Technical Support Engineer at Sigma
About the Role
Sigma is expanding rapidly, and our Technical Support Engineering team is growing to support our global user base. In this role, you’ll join an award-winning team (recognized with the 2024 Stevie Gold Award for Customer Service) to help customers overcome technical, business, and data challenges using the Sigma platform. You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams, diagnose complex issues, drive solutions, and contribute to improving our product and support operations.
What You Will Be Doing
- Assist Sigma’s customers and the pre-sales team in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- Work closely with the development team to develop best practices and tools for issue diagnosis and optimizing service performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (backend, frontend, DevOps, design, product, and Go-to-Market) to create a seamless user experience.
Qualifications We Are Looking For
- Industry experience supporting enterprise products for data analytics.
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals, particularly in databases and business intelligence.
- Advanced SQL proficiency, including:
- Mastery of **JOINs, Partitions, Window Functions, Aggregations, CTEs, SUB-QUERIES.
- Expertise in SQL query performance troubleshooting and understanding execution plans.
- Proficiency in data modeling concepts.
- Ability to design logical data visualizations.
- A track record of resolving customer issues quickly while building trust.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to build scalable processes for issue resolution, such as documenting common patterns and creating diagnostic tooling.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including issue triaging, diagnosis, and resolution.
- Enthusiasm for teamwork and job satisfaction.

Highly Desirable Skills & Experiences
- Experience supporting cloud services in production.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms: Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery.
- Familiarity with GCP, AWS.
- Experience in a startup environment.
