Technical Service Engineer (TSE) – Energy Resilience & Technical Support

Specific Responsibilities
The Technical Service Engineer (TSE) plays a pivotal role in:
- Customer & internal support: Manage technical issues for internal/external customers, field service, sales, and contractual staff—escalate, resolve, and close support cases.
- Field Service Bulletins (FSBs): Oversee distribution, ensure compliance, and track updates, modifications, and upgrade documentation.
- Technical training: Develop and deliver training schedules for apprentices, new technicians, and engineers across the product range.
- Support for sales: Assist with technical aspects of quotations and tender responses, ensuring accuracy in engineering assessments.
- Technical documentation: Maintain manuals (supplier-facing and user/installation-focused) for accuracy and relevance.
- Supplier liaison: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of technical information.
- Administration: Complete all departmental, company, and regulatory documentation accurately.
- Validation: Sign-off technical deliverables like engineering drawings, risk assessments, and assessments (e.g. DC isolation, MINIpower assemblies).
- 1st line service fault handling: Record/reduce fault cases (phone/service visits) and coordinate with relevant field service teams.
- Apprentice programme: Plan and manage selection processes, one-on-one mentorship, and progress reviews.
- Operational support: Contribute to day-to-day workflows and comply with any reasonable Director-level requests.

- Engages with all team members across all stages of the product lifecycle to provide expert technical solutions.
External Relationships
- Works with suppliers, customers, contractors, consultants, and certification bodies to address technical queries.
Education/Experience Requirements
We seek candidates with:
- HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferably with 18th Edition BS7671 qualification)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in field service within the UPS industry
- Training or mentoring experience (a significant plus)
- Strong written/oral communication skills (team & external levels)
- Problem-solving capability with multi-tasking and initiative
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
