Logistics & Resources Dept – Technical Services

Join Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service as a Technical Services Support Officer and help provide the equipment, systems and practical support our teams rely on every day.

Based at Waterwells, you will be part of a skilled Technical Services Team supporting Logistics and Resources, Fleet, Training and IT across GFRS.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where your work will directly support firefighter safety and the delivery of effective services to communities across Gloucestershire.

You will help assess, procure, maintain and develop operational equipment, ensuring it remains safe, compliant and ready for use.

The role is based mainly at Waterwells, Quedgeley, with travel to fire stations across the county.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the assessment, maintenance and disposal of Service equipment.
  • Assisting IT, Fleet and Training teams with the roll-out of new equipment.
  • Supporting equipment asset management and legislative compliance.
  • Receiving, storing, transporting and issuing operational equipment.
  • Identifying equipment faults and arranging repair or replacement.
  • Keeping accurate electronic records for control, testing and inspection.
  • Monitoring equipment procurement and repair costs to support effective budget management.

Reporting to the Logistics and Resources Manager, you will provide practical, responsive support to colleagues across GFRS and Gloucestershire County Council.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, motivated and practical, with a genuine interest in equipment and service improvement. You will be confident working with colleagues and independently across the county. Strong communication skills, good IT ability, attention to detail and the ability to plan, prioritise and manage workloads are essential. You will also uphold the high standards expected of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service personnel.

This Position is subject to standard a DBS check.
