Technical Support Officer
Local Authority | Hybrid Working | 6-Month Contract | Competitive Hourly Rate
A Local Authority is seeking a Technical Support Officer to provide day-to-day support across a busy Planning Administration service, assisting users, resolving system issues, and supporting the effective operation of the DEF planning system.
This role is ideal for a customer-focused professional with strong technical and problem-solving skills who enjoys supporting users and improving service delivery.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Service Manager, you will provide technical and operational support to officers using the Council's planning systems.

You will help maintain service continuity by resolving system issues, supporting users, and ensuring system data remains accurate and accessible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to users of the DEF planning system
- Investigate and resolve system-related issues and queries
- Log, track, and monitor support requests
- Assist with system testing, updates, and upgrades
- Support user account administration and access requests
- Produce system reports and management information
- Maintain technical documentation and guidance notes
- Liaise with IT teams, software suppliers, and service managers
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders

Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a technical support, systems support, or application support role
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Experience supporting business-critical systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and database systems
- Local Authority experience desirable
- Experience supporting DEF systems or similar planning systems advantageous
