Technical Support Specialist
Backfill Engineer
This is a Backfill Engineer role. As the Backfill Engineer, you will provide onsite support whenever the primary engineer is on Planned or Unplanned leave.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first- and second-level support for:
- Desktops and laptops
- Printers
- Mobile devices
- Respond to service requests and incidents via:
- Ticketing system
- Phone calls
- In-person support
- Install, upgrade, and maintain:
- Operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Software applications
- Troubleshoot:
- Hardware issues
- Software issues
- Peripheral equipment (monitors, keyboards, docking stations, etc.)
- Set up and configure new employee workstations, including:
- User accounts
- Permissions
- Maintain:
- Asset inventory
- Accurate documentation of IT equipment
- Assist with:
- Onboarding of employees (technical perspective)
- Offboarding of employees (technical perspective)
- Support remote users with:
- VPN
- Remote desktop
- Connectivity issues
- Collaborate with other IT teams on:
- Escalated issues
- Project-related tasks
- Follow security protocols and assist with:
- Antivirus management
- Patching
- Data protection policies

Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1+ year of experience in:
- Desktop support
- Helpdesk roles
- IT technician positions
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows OS
- Office 365
- Basic networking concepts
- Familiarity with ticketing systems like:
- ServiceNow
- Zendesk
- JIRA
- Experience with:
- SCCM
- Microsoft Intune
- Excellent:
- Communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Strong:
- Troubleshooting abilities
- Problem-solving skills

Working Conditions
- On-site support may be required
- Occasional lifting of equipment (up to 25 lbs)
- Flexible schedule or after-hours support may be needed during:
- Maintenance windows
