About the Role
The Technical Team Lead is a senior, client-facing role, responsible for leading a team of technical consultants and subject matter experts focused on delivering predominantly Microsoft cloud infrastructure, network, and security solutions.
The team collaborates closely with pre-sales teams in scoping and designing new services and with the PMO (Project Management Office) for delivering technical transformations into managed services.
As a Technical Team Lead, you must be hands-on, ensuring the team designs and delivers the right solutions for our customers. This role combines technical delivery with people leadership, suited for a professional who enjoys balancing technical work with mentoring others. Your key responsibilities include:
- Enabling and guiding senior engineers and SMEs
- Facilitating sound technical decisions
- Acting as the escalation route for project risks
Responsibilities
🔹 Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Manage a team delivering cloud and on-premise infrastructure solutions, with a focus on:
- Microsoft Azure:
- Compute (VMs, App Services, Functions)
- Networking (firewalls, VPNs, hybrid connectivity)
- Security & Governance (Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud)
- Management (ARM, Bicep, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics)
- FortiGate networking & security
- Microsoft Azure:
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across the entire project lifecycle (discovery, design, build, test, implementation, deployment), ensuring secure, high-quality outcomes and predictable delivery timelines.
- Hold accountability for technical quality and governance, including:
- Engaging the right SMEs/architects
- Reviewing designs
- Mitigating risks
- Ensuring compliance with security, regulatory, and operational requirements

🔹 Project Execution, Risk & Quality Management
- Ensure timely and high-quality project delivery, meeting targets set by the PMO.
- Proactively escalate and manage risks, collaborating with Project Managers to optimise resource planning.
- Contribute to post-project reviews, lessons learned, and Continuous Improvement (CSI) meetings, driving process enhancements.
🔹 Pre-Sales & Commercial Support
- Conduct peer reviews of pre-sales outputs in a timely manner.
- Evolve technical offerings, identifying new Microsoft products and solutions.
🔹 Standards, Automation & Service Evolution
- Drive repeatable delivery through standards, templates, and automation (e.g., PowerShell), improving:
- Quality
- Speed
- Consistency across engagements
- Incorporate AI adoption into service evolution for greater efficiency.
🔹 Knowledge Sharing & Capability Building
- Represent team practices internally and externally:
- Deliver mentoring sessions & “Lunch and Learn” workshops.
- Share latest trends, features, and best practices (especially around AI, Co-Pilot, and Azure updates).
🔹 Operational Transition & Service Readiness
- Collaborate with the Service Desk Manager to ensure smooth post-project handover into operations.
- Oversee knowledge transfer during and after delivery, including creating clear, usable documentation for operational teams.
🔹 People Leadership & Management

Requirements
📚 Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent consulting experience.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, covering:
- Architecture
- Administration
- Security & governance
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Security) or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience designing and implementing client-facing Microsoft solutions.
- Strong understanding of:
- Governance
- Security controls
- Compliance standards
