Software Team Lead - Regulatory Technology Platform
At-a-Glance
- Lead a high-impact engineering team building a next-generation financial reporting platform
- Technologies: Java, Spring Boot, Postgres, Aurora, React, AWS/EKS
- Location: Hybrid working, Belfast
- Role Description: A leadership role for engineers who want to stay close to the technology, not step away from it
About the Company
My client is a world-leading provider of market infrastructure, connecting clients to global financial and commodities markets through superior liquidity and data solutions. Operating from more than 60 offices across 27 countries, they are recognised as one of the largest players in their sector globally. This role sits within a team building genuinely strategic, next-generation technology supporting regulatory compliance at scale.
The Role
You will lead a team building a regulatory reporting platform, working with Java, Spring Boot, Postgres, Aurora, React, and an AWS-native, EKS-containerised stack. This is not a hands-off management role... you will be deeply involved in architecture conversations, reviewing code, and helping the team work through technical problems, while owning delivery, prioritisation and people leadership for a team of around 8 to 12 engineers. You will represent the team in front of stakeholders across operations, compliance and senior management, and the team already uses AI tooling day to day, so genuine comfort with modern engineering practices matters. This suits someone who has built things themselves and wants to keep that technical credibility while growing into broader leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
