Technical Trainer – Competence Development

Renault Trucks (Volvo Group) | Leicester, UK


About the Role

Salary: £42,000 – £50,000, Company Car (choice of Electric/Hybrid) + Annual Company Bonus (up to 10%) Location: Based in Whetstone, Leicester, with UK-wide and occasional international travel.

This high-visibility role offers you the exciting opportunity to design and deliver exceptional technical training for our Dealership Network while also helping host the 2026 Motor Industry Heavy Vehicle Technician Competition at our Whetstone training facility.

You will join our Competence Development Team as both a trusted technical expert and a brand ambassador.


What You’ll Have

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality technical training aligned with our annual training plan, strengthening dealer capabilities.
  • Deliver workshop-based training across dealer sites and customer locations.
  • Develop and refine training materials, including cutting-edge VR digital tools.
  • Assess training effectiveness and implement on-job embedment activities for performance support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues (including European HQ in France) to align training programs and share best practices (inclusive of occasional Train the Trainer travel).
  • Ensure health & safety standards and professional conduct remain top priorities during training.
  • Partner with the Technical Academy Manager to spot skill gaps and propose improvements.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a skilled HGV and workshop veteran with a passion for this industry. Your ideal background will include:

  • Master Technician Level 4 (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Solid knowledge of dealership operations and customer service.
  • Experience designing and delivering technical training delivery (no restrictions by previous digital tools).
  • Strong skills in presenting content (online and in-person) and utilising Microsoft Office PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Technical IT familiarity with tracking, reporting, and Workshop diagnostic tools—including any training systems & online training platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
  • A curious, adaptable, and forward-thinking mindset towards tech, tools, and process.
