Technical Trainer – Competence Development Team | Renault Trucks UK

Salary: £42,000 – £50,000, company car (electric or hybrid vehicle), and annual company bonus (up to 10%).

Location: Based in Whetstone, Leicester, with UK-wide and occasional international travel.


About the Role

This is a high-visibility opportunity to design and deliver high-quality technical training that supports the success of our dealer network.

You’ll join our Competence Development Team as a trusted expert and brand ambassador, with the unique opportunity to host the 2026 Motor Industry Heavy Vehicle Technician Competition at our training facility in Whetstone, showcasing talent to industry leaders.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver high-quality technical training aligned to the annual training plan, building capability across the dealer network.
  • Lead workshop-based training, support dealer and customer programmes, and train at sites as required.
  • Develop, adapt, and improve engaging training materials—including virtual reality (VR) and digital tools.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and deploy follow-up embedment activities for real-world application.
  • Support the Technical Academy Manager to identify training gaps and drive improvement.
  • Ensure health & safety standards and professional conduct are maintained during training.

Collaboration & Work Culture:

  • Report to the Technical Academy Manager, working closely with Competence Development Specialists and colleagues in France for best-practice sharing.
  • Travel to France for train-the-trainer sessions and brand support occasionally.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a workshop-trained technician or a technical trainer with:

  • HGV industry background and understanding of dealer networks.
  • Master Technician Level 4 qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in a dealer setting.
  • Training design and development expertise.
  • Strong presentation and delivery skills (both online and in-person).
  • Industry IT system familiarity and Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Adaptability and passion for new technologies & future trends.

-An asset, but not mandatory- CertEd, PGCE, or A1 Assessor qualifications. Full support provided if you’re willing to work towards them.
