Micheldever Group is looking for an experienced and strategic Technical Training Manager to join our Retail Training and Apprenticeships team.
Reporting to the Head of Retail Training, you will play a key role in developing and delivering best-in-class automotive technical training across the Protyre and Micheldever network.

Essential:
- Previous experience in a similar role within Automotive.
- Full UK Driving licence.
Salary & Benefits:
- £50-60K DOE (OTE £52-62K)

About You:
- Strong automotive technical knowledge to support centres and departments with diagnostics, fault finding and technical advice across the business.
- Relevant automotive qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in automotive, automotive accreditation, EV/High-Voltage certification or equivalent, Refrigerant Handling, MOT (desirable).
- Proven experience in designing and delivering technical training within an automotive or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of automotive technical disciplines including MOT, EV/High-Voltage, diagnostics and repair.
- Experience developing technical curricula and frameworks that drive measurable performance improvement.
- Ability to analyse training impact and present insights through data and reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a multi-site operation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical content into engaging training.
- High level of organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive, strategic and results-driven mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.

About this role:
- Utilising your automotive technical knowledge to support centres and cross-functional departments across Protyre Autocare.
- You will act as a key point of contact for complex queries, helping to drive consistent standards, improve operational performance, and build technical capability across the network.
- Design, develop and continuously improve the technical training curriculum across areas such as MOT, EV/High-Voltage, diagnostics, service and repair, and new product launches.
- Deliver and support technical training interventions that improve workshop productivity, quality and right-first-time performance.
- Develop and manage technical competency frameworks, certification pathways and assessment processes.
- Measure and report on training effectiveness, including improvements in KPIs such as first-time fix rates, MOT pass rates and diagnostic efficiency.
- Work closely with Retail Operations and key stakeholders to identify skill gaps and implement targeted training solutions.
- Manage relationships with external training providers and ensure integration into internal programmes.
- Support and develop train-the-trainer capability to enable Regional Training Partners to deliver consistent, high-quality training.
- Ensure all technical training content aligns with manufacturer standards, IMI/ATA requirements, and legal and health & safety obligations.
- Drive continuous improvement in training effectiveness and operational performance across the network.

Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) was founded in 1972 as a part-time venture providing car servicing and tyres. Today, Micheldever Group is the fastest growing wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres in the UK, selling six million tyres nationwide (20 percent of the total UK market) and employing approximately 2100 employees company wide. To support this business, we have built a wholesale distribution network of 14 sites around the UK supplying over 6,000 retailers and our own retail chain Protyre which is consistently growing. This is achieved by skilled, focused and determined teams across one central distribution centre and 13 warehouse operations nationwide.
