Technical Training Manager

Location: Milton Keynes (Scania UK Learning Academy)

Salary: Starting from £60,000

Working Hours: Monday to Friday Contract Type: Hybrid


About the Role

Scania GB presents an exciting opportunity for a Technical Training Manager to lead the People Development department. You will oversee the strategy and delivery of bespoke technical training programs across the business, including apprenticeships, technicians, parts, and service training. Your responsibilities include managing a team of technical trainers while ensuring colleagues receive the training needed for continuous development and growth.

The role combines both people management and automotive technical expertise, requiring a strong background in training methodology and the automotive sector.

Key Details

  • Based initially in Loughborough (until September 2026), before transitioning to our new Scania UK Learning Academy in Milton Keynes.

Responsibilities

Training Strategy & Planning

  • Define and deliver a technical training roadmap aligned with vehicle parc, new technologies, and business priorities.
  • Identify capability gaps and design structured learning programmes to address them.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders regarding training requirements and tracking.
  • Oversee Customer Training and specialist initiatives.

Programme Delivery

  • Own and manage end-to-end delivery of technical training across the Academy, field, and network.
  • Ensure consistent standards and quality across all training methods.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with the People Development team to assess training effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and performance.
  • Partner closely with Technical, Network Development, and Branch Operations teams.
  • Act as the key interface between Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), trainers, and suppliers.

Content & Compliance

  • Step up technical learning content development and maintenance.
  • Ensure alignment with operational standards and compliance requirements.

Performance & Reporting

  • Track KPIs linked to training effectiveness and competence.
  • Generate dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making.

Supplier & Resource Management

  • Manage external providers and internal trainer capabilities.
  • Optimise resource planning and utilisation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive innovation in delivery methods and systems.
  • Embed best practices across technical training.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical expertise – previous experience in automotive technical roles or technical training environments.
  • Proven record in technical education (speculated to include apprenticeships, certifications, or hands-on training delivery).
