About the Role

We’re seeking a brewing expert to ensure peak brewing operations while meeting group and site targets. This position will involve:

  • Overseeing technical brewing operations (grain-to-glass)
  • Supporting production teams
  • Embedding CI (continuous improvement)
  • Driving new product initiatives that enhance competitive advantage and align with world-class standards

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive Cost Efficiency & Budget Compliance
    • Own departmental loss targets and material budgets
    • Execute CapEx/OpEx projects within standard and timelines
    • Initiate cost-reduction strategies

  • Improve Production Team Capability

    • Coach production teams through hands-on support
    • Create and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Fostering a culture of daily performance excellence
  • Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) -Champion and apply lean CI methods (e.g., root-cause analysis)

    • Lead measurable CI initiatives with tangible results
  • Maintain Cross-Functional Alignment

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for consistent performance standards
  • Ensure Quality & Operational Excellence

    • Own departmental Quality KPIs
    • Work with Quality & Operations for compliance with:
      • Physicochemical
      • Microbiological
      • Legislative standards
    • Align with Carlsberg Operational Manual best practices
  • Optimise Operational Processes

    • Improve plant processes and hygiene standards
    • Ensure full compliance and operational consistency
  • Drive External Best Practice & Innovation

    • Share insights with Carlsberg Group colleagues
    • Foster benchmarking and performance alignment
    • Introduce new technologies, processes and materials
  • Promote Health, Safety & Environmental Excellence

    • Lead a visible role in advancing HSE standards and compliance
  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate closely with Procurement to manage material quality and supplier performance
    • Work with Production, Planning & Quality Teams to meet targets
    • Lead change and design calls to challenge the status quo

Experience and Key Attributes Required

  • Technical and IT Skills
    • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Hands-on experience with automation or process-control systems
  • Problem-Solving & CI Expertise
    • Proficient in tools such as PDCA, 5 Why, Ishikawa
  • Change Management & Leadership
    • Skilled in influencing operational teams
    • Ability to coach and develop personnel towards sustainable improvement
  • Planning & Project Management
    • Lean management knowledge and troubleshooting confidence
    • Strong project delivery capability within technical processes
  • Educational Qualifications
    • IBD Diploma in Brewing (mandatory)
    • Master Brewer qualification or active progression toward it (preferred)
  • Working Rights
    • Must hold or be eligible for UK working rights
