Technician - 3D Environment Art

3D Environment Art Technician – Permanent, Part-Time (28h/36wks)

About the Role

We are seeking a 3D Environment Art Technician to join Falmouth University’s Games Academy—a vital role supporting students, staff, curriculum delivery, and the maintenance of departmental facilities and equipment.

Primarily working with the BA(Hons) Game Art and Game Development Art courses while also contributing to postgraduate programmes, you’ll play a key role in enhancing students’ learning through hands-on technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and management of 3D environments using industry-standard tools:
    • Software: Maya, Substance Suite
    • Engines: Unreal and Unity
  • Maintain and optimise equipment,piplines+ colaborative tools
  • Providing technical guidance and support to students and staff
  • Pledging your expertise to teach students through practical sessions and concept realisation
  • Supporting a positive, engaging learning environment for students at all levels

Essential Criteria

  • Proven expertise in creating/managing 3D environments and background_prop assets
  • Proficiency with industry-standard 3D tools (Maya, Substance)
  • Game engine experience (Unreal/Unity) for integration/testing tasks
  • Technical confidence in handling version control (e.g. Perforce, PerforceHelix) and workflows
  • Highly comms ikastents/designed safe adjustments into materials
  • Commitment to continuing professional development in game/environment art tech

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience in educational environments (support + delivery) benefits
  • Patient, supportive communicator with higher education students
