Role Description

The Technician or Technical Architect’s role at Nicoll Russell Studios Ltd is a full-time, on-site position based in the practice’s Dundee studios. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed technical drawings, digital models, and specifications to support architectural and interior design projects.
  • Assisting project teams with coordination of design information, compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and integration of engineering and infrastructure requirements.
  • Working closely with architects and designers, updating documentation throughout the project lifecycle, and ensuring that information is accurate and clearly presented.
  • Contributing to project administration tasks.
  • Supporting quality assurance processes.
  • Helping maintain organized digital and physical project records.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical drafting and drawing skills using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit tools).
  • Understanding of architectural and interior design principles, building construction methods, and UK building regulations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed plans, sections, elevations, and technical documentation.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities, including managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Relevant technical qualification or diploma in architectural technology, construction, or ARB registration.
  • Previous 5 years’ experience in a Scottish architectural practice.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and quality assurance.
