Job Description: Hydro Group Technician
About the Role
Hydro Group designs, manufactures, and installs bespoke subsea cable and connector assembly engineering for the oil and gas, marine renewable energy, and defence industries. We operate under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications, supplying precision-engineered, high-performance subsea electrical and optical connectors, pressure hull penetrators, cable terminations, and specialised composite cables, tethers, and umbilicals capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions.
This generic job description applies to technicians across multiple departments, who operate under strict ISO 9001 procedures and processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Assemble kit-formed components in accordance with engineering drawings.
- Prepare provided parts for termination and encapsulation.
- Conduct electrical terminations and splices using soldering and mechanical methods.
- Perform fibre optic terminations in line with established processes.
- Mix and cast polyurethane, polyethylene, and epoxy resins.
- Interpret technical engineering drawings to manufacture products per process specifications.
- Manufacture connectors and connector inserts from raw materials.
- Handle, store, and apply chemicals for cleaning, priming, and moulding, strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Travel domestically (UK) and internationally to support customers with subsea cable application installation, testing, and monitoring.
- Test products and maintain detailed records of results.
- Regularly maintain machinery and equipment to required standards.
- Uphold good housekeeping standards to ensure a customer-friendly environment.
- Assist with staff training in relation to job/product awareness.
- Align with Group management behaviours and equal opportunity policies.

Requirements / Qualifications
- Desired: Electrical experience or equivalent work history preferred.
Key Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work ** collaboratively as a team member**.
- Proficiency in soldering and wiring connectors and assemblies.
- Familiarity with technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to working within ISO 9001 quality frameworks.
